You are not what you intend...
You are what you do.
Happy Sunday!
Five minutes each week to reset, reflect, and move forward with intention.
1 INSIGHT TO CONSIDER
A writer writes. A runner runs. The noun is earned by the verb.
We love the nouns – writer, entrepreneur, artist, leader. We imagine ourselves as them, talk about becoming them, buy the gear and follow the accounts. But identities aren't claimed. They’'re practiced. The only difference between someone who wants to write and a writer is that one of them wrote today. You don’t need to feel like the noun to do the verb. In fact, it works the other way: do the verb long enough, and the noun takes care of itself.
2 REFLECTIONS TO SIT WITH
Aspiration without action is just decoration.
The verb, repeated daily, becomes the identity.
3 PROMPTS FOR THE WEEK
What noun do I want that I haven’t been doing the verb for?
What did I actually do this week – and what does that say I am?
What verb could I practice today, however briefly?
Until next week,
Chris
